General Thread of Requests for «Reading Recommendations» - 2018
·
The purpose of this special thread is to group and consolidate all Reading Recommendations requests in one place. This thread to avoid flooding of the section with individual threads of recommendation requests.

Rules and recommendations for the use of the General Requests Thread:
·
A. FOR USERS WHO REQUEST RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Please make your request through the following format:
1. Genre or Author(s) of the book.
2. A description of why you are looking for a recommendation to facilitate a better response (Liked previous books by the author, want to experiment with the new genre, etc)

Important Notice: If you wish to request several or multiple "Reading Recommendations", please group all your requests in a single message per day.
Multiple individual requests will not be allowed for each recommendation requested.

B. FOR USERS WHO CAN ANSWER THE REQUESTS:
Before you post you recommendation, it is suggested you create a thread under the Book Recommendation category (to make it more visible to fellow members).
·
• Your reply should include only the link that leads to thread which contains your recommendation in the section.
·
• Your thread posted needs to follow the format below:
1. Basic details of the book (title, author, edition, etc.)
2. A description of the book in the words of the user
3. Rating by the user (1-5).
4. The reasons why the user recommends that book
5. Link to the recommendation thread (only for the thread replies)
6. Link to the book in the Reading Room section (if it is available)

Before you write your request or before responding to a request, please use the following suggested search methods to avoid duplicating or redundance of past requests → About SEARCH options

WARNINGS:
● Any off topic message, other than a request or response to a request, will be deleted without notice.
● Please, if you wish to express your appreciation, do so through a PM (private message) or much better, granting rate. All "Thank You" posts would be deleted.
● The chat is not allowed within this Thread of Requests.
● In general, any request or reply that does not comply with the Rules and Recommendations of this Requests Thread will be deleted.

Special Bonus:
Every weekend, the best "Reading Recommendation" will be selected, which will be added to the "Reading Recommendations" thread found in the Reading Room section. The author of the recommendation will receive special thanks for her/his collaboration and participation.

I've read very few classics to make any worthwhile recommendations, but here are a few to check out ...

Thanks a lot for your recommendations. Except Scarlet Pimpernel, I've read the other titles. Going to try this one too.

Will check out the thread by @cynic too.



Little bit old now for trying classics for young audience ... thanks for the recommendations though


The Hundred Books project is an ingenious idea. Found an app similar to this sometimes back but that was not that well-organized. It contains few of my favorite titles like "The Time Machine", "Treasure Island" etc. Thanks a lot for sharing.
